One Cleaner for Everything

What you need: Water, white vinegar, lemon-grass and eco washing-up liquid Fill half a spray bottle with water then top up to three-quarters full with white vinegar. Add 10 to 15 drops of lemon grass which blocks the smell of vinegar and is naturally antibacterial. Add a couple of drops of washing-up liquid and shake before use.

Tile Cleaners

What you need: Bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar and lemon juice Mix two parts bicarbonate to one part vinegar and one part lemon. Use a damp cloth to apply the mixture to the tiles and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing off. This can also be used on draining boards, sinks, baths and sinks, baths and shower doors.

Polishing Wooden Floors and Furniture

What you need: Olive oil and lemon juice Mix one part olive oil with one part lemon juice. Rub on furniture or apply with a spray bottle then polish with a dry cloth.

  • To deodorise: Sprinkle bicarbonate of soda into the bowl, squirt vinegar and scour with a brush.
  • To remove lime-scale: Pour white vinegar on to tissue paper and stuff under the rim. Pour white vinegar into the bowl and leave for several hours.
  • To remove stubborn black lime-scale: Sprinkle 2 tbsp non-toxic bleach into the bowl and leave for a minimum of two hours or overnight if possible.
  • To save time and money, make your cleaning products in advance and buy the ingredients in bulk to save money and avoid excess packaging. Make large batches of the recipes and store them in reusable airtight plastic containers and spray bottles. Add your favourite essential oils or herbs to any of these formulas for fragrance. Making cleaners at home can definitely provide a green sense and create a better environment.
